Instructions for Using the Printer
Use of the printer is restricted to faculty, staff, and students in Chemical and Mechanical, Aeronautical, and Biomedical Engineering.
The HP 800PS printer in located in 406 Dougherty right inside the door.
The printer can print in B&W or in full color. Although the printer can handle up to 42 inch wide paper, the department only supplies 36 inch wide paper. The default paper is a matte finish that works well for most applications and is the cheapest. Also available is a photo quality paper, adhesive backed vinyl, and tyvec (for banners). The printer can print up to 150 feet long banners or posters!
To add this printer to your computer, it must be added to the Dougherty Engineering Windows domain. You should see Stephen Stiner in 331 Dougherty to do this. In addition, you will need a user account to log into this domain to print. Mr. Stiner can also take care of this.
Warning: Don't attempt to print large "full color" photographs on this printer. There is not enough memory to handle the large amount of data and the photo will never print. In tests, after 5 hours and 36 inch by 40 inch photo was still processing!
Please do not print posters with full color backgrounds without checking with Dr. Weber in 437 Dougherty first. People caught do so without permission will be banned from using this printer due to the extreme cost of these types of applications.
