If you are a student interested in applying to our graduate program, the following list provides the procedure:

Submit a request for an application.

This is done by sending an E-mail message to our graduate recruiting coordinator. The procedure is described in the Instructions for Application Requests. Your academic, research and work background will be quickly reviewed to check that a good match exists between yourself and the department. This extra step insures that the students who are extended offers of admission have satisfying and rewarding graduate careers in their academic work.

Submit your completed application to the Graduate School.

When your application is sent, pay particular attention to the required materials that compose a complete application. Note that the application is submitted to the Graduate School; our department will not be sent your application for our recommendation until all required materials have been sent to the Graduate School. In fact, we may not even be aware that you have submitted an application. The importance of a complete application package cannot be overemphasized.

Verify that your application is complete.

When your application has been received by the Graduate School, they will check to see that all required materials have been received. If some materials have not yet been received, you will be sent a form detailing the missing information. It is your responsibility to provide this information. You will not be contacted by the Graduate School a second time. If you have any doubts concerning the status of your application, contact the Graduate School.

When the Graduate School has received a completed application, it will be sent to our department for our recommendation. Our graduate planning committee and our faculty review the applications. Offers of admission are based on the student's academic qualifications, experience, and research interests and on our projected research needs. The review of applications for the Fall semester begins on Feb. 1st and continues until all available positions are filled.
