Research Interests
My research is divided into two areas, Thermodynamics and Environmental Biotechnology Thermodynamics: This research is directed towards understanding the properties and structure of supercritical solutions and consists of experimental components for the measurement of equilibrium and mass transport properties on the macroscopic level and neutron scattering experiments directed at the structure of the supercritical solution. Modeling efforts consist of developing a new quartic equation of state for the supercritical region. Environmental Biotechnology: This research is directed towards a fundamental and practical understanding of the microbial destruction of toxic substances in the environment. Research includes biodegradation kinetics and transport of organics and metals in the environment, bioreactor design and analysis, microbial systems analysis and biosensor development.
